"title": "Solar Eclipse",
"message": "We want to bring to your attention the upcoming exciting solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. While this is a captivating occurrence for many, it is essential to be aware of the potential dangers associated with viewing the eclipse directly.\n\nDuring a solar eclipse, the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, obscuring all or part of the sun's light. While this can be a remarkable sight to witness, looking directly at the sun during an eclipse can cause severe and permanent eye damage, including blindness. Therefore, we are strongly asking our parents to advise their children not to look directly at the sun. Sunglasses are not sufficient to protect your child’s eyes during an eclipse.\n\nThe upcoming eclipse will occur during school hours and dismissal time. Safety is our top priority, so all school-sponsored, outdoor extracurricular activities between 12:00 P.M. and 3:15 P.M. must take place indoors, unless it is for a specific eclipse related lesson. Those lessons must follow safety procedures, with each child wearing appropriate eye protection. Class changes, dismissals and other similar procedures will take place, but students will be reminded of the dangers of looking directly into the sun.\n\nPlease visit Quick Links on this page for more information.\n",
